About Our Class:
The Writing Journey
Students will embark on an exciting journey to write four types of essays: expository, persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. They will use the Four Square Writing Method, which empowers them with a clear formula that enhances their confidence in their writing.
Class Engagement
In class, we will engage in lively discussions, embrace guided and independent practice, and celebrate the sharing of completed work. Understanding basic paragraph structure will lay the foundation for their success.
Homework Expectations
By typing their essays, students can easily share their ideas and receive valuable feedback. Each week, homework may take 1 to 3 hours, depending on the type of essay and each student’s ability to type and generate ideas.
Evaluation and Feedback
I will evaluate students’ growth through their finished essays, which they must proudly post in the classroom weekly. I will provide written feedback privately each week to guide them on their path.
Emphasizing Growth
This process encourages learning as a continuous journey rather than a quest for perfection. Consistent effort in completing weekly assignments, reviewing feedback, and applying it to their next essays will unlock the full potential of this transformative class.
Class Format:
Our weekly class meetings will be held via Zoom. Students will access their lessons, print worksheets, submit assignments, join discussions, and view their feedback through our classroom platform, Canvas.
I strive to keep our class sizes small so we will have between 4-6 learners in class. This is a good number for student interaction:)
